My Journey To Wellness
Hi, I’m EJ, a co-founder of Nutroblends
I have been an avid golfer my entire life. At an early age, my dad introduced and taught me the game I came to love so much. His instruction and encouragement and my dedication led me to play at Oklahoma State University where we won an NCAA team championship in 1987 and I won an NCAA individual championship in 1988. Since then I have continued my love for the game as a Golf Magazine’s top 100 golf instructor.
A parallel relationship with chronic pain and inflammation grew as I continued to play and teach the game. First with a severe case of Crohn’s Disease, a chronic inflammatory bowel disease that affects the lining of the digestive tract, and then with joint and back pain that came with being active and age. As I took a hard look around, people at every golf course I visited were popping Ibuprofen and other NSAIDs to mask the chronic pain that effects over 50 million Americans every day. Having been instructed by doctors to avoid NSAIDs at all costs due to gastrointestinal side effects, I knew there had to be a safer option out there. I couldn’t find any that were clinically proven.
Plus, as I continued my research, I learned that more than 70 million prescriptions for NSAIDs are written each year in the United States. If you include over-the-counter use, the number of NSAIDS consumed annually in the United States alone is more than 30 billion doses. What a punch in the gut!
